Kate is a certified financial therapist, whose compassionate, person-first approach focuses on creating financial healing across all three domains of money: the external (your bank account), the internal (your felt experience), and the relational.
Meet Kate
Kate might be a great fit if…
You’re in a female-breadwinner household, and the financial imbalances are causing tension in your relationship
You have inherited wealth (or will in the future) or have experienced a large exit or windfall, and want to learn how to create an integrated relationship with money
You have a history of financial self-abandonment or people-pleasing, and patterns of using spending to soothe situations, other people, or insecurities
You struggle with overspending or overshopping – and want to change your relationship with consumption
“I want money to become a supporting character in all my clients’ lives – a tool to support their continued self-actualization, instead of the thing driving the show.
How we’ll work together…
I take a very conversational, warm approach. I know how stressful and shameful money can be to talk about, and I strive to make it feel as safe as possible. We will work together to figure out: what your vision is (what you want out of life), what financial and behavioral obstacles continue to stand in your way, and how can we create – and sustain – a plan to get you from a to b.
If you’re in a couple, most of our meetings will be all together but I will also want to do solo sessions with each of you from time to time.
My background…
After spending most of my 20s living in Asia (India and Singapore) working in the textiles industry, I got sick with an auto-immune disease and had to move back home to Chicago. That ended up leading to a career pivot into personal finance, and here we are almost a decade later! In my spare time, I love to cook seasonal food, go for long phone-less walks, and rotate between different creative hobbies (currently, metalsmithing!). I absolutely love to shop & am a true collector, but am very committed to cultivating highly restrained consumption habits (an ever evolving work in progress, aided by my Buddhist practice.)
